Solar Killed the Riding Lawnmower

 my lawnmower was a relict

An anachronism from the late 20th century

So I upgraded my lawn using FFA plans

Corn here peas there and Squash

Holy trinity of the 16th century come full cycle

Grass un-needed but to feed sheep and cattle

Our suburbs followed suit to water through drip irrigation

Their gardens for food in yards not lawns for us to

Supply and Demand more from our lives to Undo

The years of scarcity and running to the stores.

Weeds will persist any plan, but the squash doesn't mind

And the peas climbed the corn which is technically grass

Most grains are these days of sunbleached summers

And solar pumps for the dripped water on squash

Corn is pretty thirsty but does well in sun

And the rain comes occasionally but thermal batteries

at night drive when the sun dips down too low

And thermo-electrics kick in, though their slower than solar

photoelectrics invented by Einstein, one of his few patents

Most days creep by un-noticed to the lawnmower

now unneeded  by society which needed food, not petrochemicals
